Home Sweet Home

Hello, creative friends!

It’s my turn to host the Power & Spark challenge over on thePower Poppy blog.  Since we’ve spent the last year remodeling our home, I have home design on the brain.  I thought it would be fun to do an Inspired By Home challenge.

To play along, all you need to do is use a room or corner of your home as your inspiration for a project created with Power Poppy Stamps.

I chose my living room as my inspiration.  Although I could have zoned in on any one corner, I decided to use elements from the whole room.

You can view more photos of my living room in this gallery:  LIVING ROOM

Here’s a look at my card, which was created with the gorgeous new Gifts from the Sea digital stamp set.

My “ribbon” choices were inspired by the textures in the baskets & curtain ties.  The image color palette of neutral black/white/tan with soft greens was inspired by the colors throughout the room.  The cardstock colors, again, reflect the colors in the room and framed art on the walls.  There are a lot of wood accent pieces in the room; so I chose wood “brads” to finish off the design.

The image was printed on X-Press It Blending Card, and colored with Copic Markers.  Here’s a close-up view of the colored image:

Finally, here’s a look at the inside of the card.  I printed the digital image in a soft green (so I can write over the top of it) on X-Press It Blending Card, and added a black strip across the top.

I could have gone lots of different ways with this challenge.  For instance, the large painting of tulips and a pitcher would have been a fun inspiration for a card created with the Tulips in Hobnail Pitcher digital stamp set.  So, you see?  Your possibilities really are limited only by your imagination.  Hope you’ll play along, friends!  Head on over to the Power Poppy blog for all the details.
