Let Your Heart Be Light

Hello friends!

I’m back with a sneak peek of day two of Power Poppy’s Happiest Holiday release.  Today’s set is called Let Your Heart Be Light, and is full of poinsettias, holly, the warm glow of a candle, and six perfectly fitting sentiments.

Here’s a look at my card:

I thought the images would be pretty embossed in white; so that is what I did!  I then colored them (carefully) with my Copic Markers.  Now, word of warning for those who may want to do this technique, Copic Markers and white embossing powder are “technically” not compatible.  The alcohol in the ink breaks down the embossing powder, and can damage your Copic brush nib.  That said, when I color using this technique, I have a very light touch, and wipe my marker tips off onto clean scratch paper each time I use them.  I understand the risk, and am okay with that.  I happen to have a good stash of extra nibs on hand just in case.   You, my friends, have been properly warned. ūüėČ It sure is pretty, though, isn’t it?!

My card base is Grout Gray from My Favorite Things, the white layers are Sugar Cube card stock from Taylored Expressions.  That pretty red & white gingham patterned paper is from Pebbles Americana collection.

The paper I embossed & colored the images on is X-Press It Blending Card.  Here’s a look at the Copic Markers I used.

Finally, here’s a look at the inside of my card:

A few simple details and a lightly stamped image really dress up the inside, yet still leave plenty of space to write a sweet note.

  1. This is SO pretty! The white is so striking and your coloring really pops against the embossing! I also love how you decorated the inside of the card!

  2. Oh, Cindy, this is a gorgeous card, and I love the embossing and agree that it’s so important not to damage our nibs. Glad to know you clean them each time…thanks for the great tip! Truly a beautiful card with the circular shape with the scalloped peeking out. And the ribbon is GORGEOUS..along with the wonderful finished inside. I love it!! Hugs and love! xoxo
