Valentines & a Video

Hello, creative friends!

I’m still in the mood for love over here; so today I have a couple of Valentine cards to share with you.  Both of them were created with the Va-Va Valentines digital stamp set from Power Poppy.  I’m having a great time working my way through all of the images in that set.

The first card was created using the “I think you’re pretty GRATE” image.  Hah!  Isn’t that a “grate” sentiment?!

I printed the image on X-Press It Blending Card, and colored it using the following Copic Markers.

The card base is my all-time favorite color from MFT Stamps, Grout Gray.  It’s just the perfect neutral.  Layers of white and pretty patterned paper from an oldie-but-goodie paper pack, The Sweetest Thing Honey from My Mind’s Eye tie the color palette together.  The fun banner frames were created with the Jumbo Fishtail Banner Stax Die-namics from MFT Stamps, and air-brushed with my RV66 & YR24 Copic Markers.

The twine was originally white as well, as were the trio of sweet hearts in the lower right corner.  I airbrushed each of them with my RV66 Copic Marker.  The Copic airbrush system allows you to coordinate anything you might want on your card with ease.

Here’s a peek at the inside of the card:

The “mwah” sentiment is from the Good Thinking: Love Notes clear stamp set, which is a must-have when sending terms of endearment to your loved ones!

For my second card, I went with a more masculine feel…although the first card really could work for a male loved one as well!

I used the same color card base with white accents and patterned paper from yet another oldie-but-goodie, The Sweetest Thing Tangerine from My Mind’s Eye.

The “Y0u Make my Heart Melt” image was printed on X-Press It Blending Card, and colored using the following Copic Markers.

I had fun creating the ombre effect on the flames.

You may also notice that both of these cards utilize a complementary color palette.  I talk more about why and what that means in the video below.

Here’s a look at the inside:

Simple strips of patterned papers and a sweet little sentiment is all it needs until I’m ready to write my note inside.

I have some NEWS, dear friends!  Now, whether or not you consider it good news, is yet to be determined.  Haha!  I have FINALLY made the jump to start creating videos again.  It’s been at least 6 years since I created a video that wasn’t of my children or grandchildren. So, I whipped this one up fairly quickly (all things considered…I mean, there really is no such thing as “quick” when it comes to video making).  No special techniques really…just testing out my video equipment & getting myself used to doing voice overs (so not easy, man!).  Without further adieu, here it is…hopefully the first of many!
